An annual appreciation event was held June 4, 2025 to recognize honour the contributions of hundreds of volunteers who serve the diocese in a range of ways.

At an annual Volunteer Appreciation event, Bishop Mark Hagemoen provided the opening prayer and thanked all the many volunteers who serve in a variety of ways as missionary disciples in the diocesan mission to proclaim Christ and God’s kingdom. Bishop Mark Hagemoen thanked all those serving on diocesan commissions, committees, councils and board,s and those providing pastoral care as part of the diocese’s outreach in hospitals and at the prison, and those who are assisting in nurturing and enriching faith in formation programs.
He also reflected on the impact of their “missionary discipleship,” connecting it to the pastoral leadership of the late Pope Francis, with his focus on hope and mercy, and of Pope Leo XIV, who started his pontificate with words about peace.

MC Myron Rogal invited a representative from each table to come forward to share where they see signs of hope, which brought forth a range of testimonies, with many reflecting on ministries that are offered in the diocese.
“For me, this is a celebration of the unity and belonging that binds us volunteers together in service within the diocese,” said one participant.
With hospitality and help from volunteers from the Catholic Women’s League and the Knights of Columbus, the event for other volunteers from across the diocese included a reception, a dinner, and door prizes, as well as time to connect and visit together.
Another feature this year was a display of resources available from the diocesan Msgr. Michael J. Koch Resource Library, set up by volunteer library coordinator Mel Zimmer.
