Jubilee Tree of Hope: A prayer opportunity for families who have lost a child

Last year the Jubilee Tree of Hope was planted and blessed on the grounds of Holy Spirit Parish as a place of blessing and remembrance for anyone who has experienced the death of a child. There are many families who live the sorrowful mysteries through the loss of a child.

This loss may be new or from long ago, when the child was still in the womb or when they were an adult or some age in between.  Child loss has a disordered element to it; we know that parents are not supposed to bury their children and so this loss has a unique grief.

Gathering once a year is not all the support grieving families need, but it is a time to remember – to remember the children and to remember that we are not alone.

Gathering to share heartache is part of who we are as Catholics.  Praying and remembering is essential to these times together.

The Jubilee Tree of Hope was planted, dedicated and blessed last year on the grounds of Holy Spirit parish with approximately 40 people gathering to pray together.

This year on Sunday, May 31, at 2 p.m. we will be hosting another time of prayer and remembrance.  We will have a prayer service by the tree then gather in the welcome area of the church for refreshments and remembrance.   We hope you can join us.

The Jubilee Tree of Hope may also be visited any time near the pro-life monument on the grounds of Holy Spirit Parish, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon.
