The CWL Clothing Depot, a non-profit organization that sells donated clothing and household goods from its location on 20th Street West in Saskatoon, recently held a lunch to thank and honour the volunteers who ensure that the vital service can continue.
Holy Spirit associate pastor Fr. Michael Magaji led an opening prayer before the meal, blessing all those present and acknowledging the service of the volunteers: “What you are doing is the practical way of living the Christian life,” he said. “Thank you for the good work you are doing.”

The volunteer appreciation event May 26 at Holy Spirit Parish Hall included lunch, draws, and entertainment by the “Ukuladies” a ukulele singing group emceed this year by Carol Kostiuk.
Outgoing CWL Clothing Depot President Pat Shevchenko thanked volunteers and all those whose generosity ensures the CWL Clothing Depot can continue — including donors of the “new and gently-used” inventory that is a vital service for those in need. The CWL Clothing Depot donates any profits back to community organizations.
She introduced the new executive for the non-profit organization: Louise Kowalski, president; Alex Aderonke, secretary; Rosemary Vinet, treasurer; Bernice LaFramboise, communications; Diance Hrabor, public relations; and Wendy De Sa, diocesan Catholic Women’s League representative.
Now a member-at-large, Shevchenko also acknowledged three retiring board members: Agnes Pelletier, Diane Coté and Sarah O’Gorman.
The CWL Clothing Depot accepts donations of new and gently used items between 10 am and 3 p.m. Monday to Friday at the back door of the store located at 619-20th-Street West, Saskatoon (lower level of Saskatoon Friendship Inn building).
The store itself is open to shoppers from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Volunteers are always needed and welcome: call store manager Bea Megyesi for more information: (306) 242-5042.
