The Catholic Women’s League of Canada at St. Mary Parish in Saskatoon, celebrated thee council’s 80th anniversary May 24, beginning with Mass, followed by a banquet in the church hall.
St. Mary CWL Council was formed 80 years ago, on May 15, 1945, with Adelle Ritz as the first president, Marybelle Finlayson as the first vice-president, and Fr. Leo Sexsmith as spiritual advisor.
In the homily during the anniversary celebration, Fr. Kevin McGee thanked members of the Catholic Women’s League for responding to the Holy Spirit in witness, service, and love: “St. Mary’s would not be the same without you.”
