Pastoral appointments and updates announced by Saskatoon Bishop Mark Hagemoen

On June 3, 2024, Bishop Mark Hagemoen announced a number of pastoral assignments, updates, and changes, effective July 31, 2024 in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon. He also said further announcements would be forthcoming.

Pastoral assignments

Fr. Gregory Roth

Fr. Greg Roth, who has been serving as pastor at St. Peter Parish in Unity, SK, is appointed pastor at St. Anne Parish in Saskatoon and pastor at Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens Parish, Saskatoon.

Fr. Matthew Ramsay

Fr. Matthew Ramsay, who has been serving as pastor of St. Anne Parish in Saskatoon, is appointed pastor at St. Peter Parish in Unity, SK, and St. Michael Parish, Tramping Lake, SK. He will continue to serve as the Bishop’s Delegate for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Religious Curriculum and Spiritual Direction.

Fr. Francis Appiah-Kubi

Fr. Francis Appiah-Kubi, who has been serving as pastor of the Fox Valley cluster of parishes, is appointed pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Kindersley, SK; St. Joseph Parish, Eatonia, SK; Sacred Heart Parish, Eston, SK; and Sacred Heart Parish, Marengo, SK.

Fr. John Abban-Bonsu

Fr. John Abban-Bonsu, who was serving as pastor of the Kindersley cluster of parishes, is appointed pastor of St. Anthony Parish, Lake Lenore, SK; St. Ann Parish, Annaheim, SK; and St. Gregory Parish, Englefeld, SK.

Fr. Prosper Abotsi

Fr. Prosper Abotsi, who was serving as pastor of the Lake Lenore cluster of parishes, is appointed associate pastor of St. Anne Parish, Saskatoon. He will also work with the diocesan ministries office regarding catechetical faith formation programs for parishes.

 

Fr. Arnold Bolima

Fr. Arnold Bolima, who was serving as associate pastor at St. Anne Parish in Saskatoon, is appointed pastor at St. Theresa Parish, Asquith, and as associate pastor at St. Patrick Parish in Saskatoon.

Msgr. Don Pavilando

Msgr. Don Vito Pavilando, who was serving as pastor at Asquith and associate pastor at St. Patrick, Saskatoon, is appointed pastor at the Trinité parishes of  Sts. Donatien & Rogatien Parish, Prud’homme, SK; St. Denis Parish, St. Denis, SK; and St. Philippe Neri Parish, Vonda, SK. He will also assist with Hospital Chaplaincy and Hospice at Glengarda, Saskatoon.

Re-structuring and re-organization

Fr. Prince Sarpong

In addition to his present appointment as pastor of Little Flower Parish in Leader, SK, and Sacred Heart Parish in Liebenthal, SK, Fr. Prince Sarpong, will now also be responsible for St. Mary Parish, Fox Valley.

Sacred Heart Parish, Lancer, SK, and St. Mary Parish, Richmound, will continue to discern and determine their current viability and future status.

Departures

Fr. Greg Smith-Windsor

Fr. Gregory Smith-Windsor will be pursuing philosophy doctoral studies at St. Thomas Aquinas University in Houston, USA. Pastoral coverage for St. Aloysius Parish, Allan, SK, St. Alphones Parish, Viscount, SK, and St. Mary Parish, Colonsay, SK, where he has been serving as pastor will be announced in the near future.

Fr. Graham Hill, CSsR

Fr. Graham Hill, CSsR, will conclude his current assignment as pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Saskatoon, as the Redemptorist community withdraws service from the diocese of Saskatoon.  Pastoral coverage for Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish will be announced in the near future.

Fr. Daniel Louh, SMA

Fr. Daniel Louh, SMA, who has been serving as pastor of Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens, Saskatoon and the Trinité parishes at St. Denis, Prud’homme, and Vonda, is being re-called by his SMA religious community in the Ivory Coast.

“Please join in gratitude and prayer for all of these clergy and their ministries in our diocese. We ask for God’s blessings on them as they move forward to new assignments and endeavours,” said Bishop Hagemoen.
