His Beatitude Most Rev. Sviatoslav Shevchuk will lead nomination, consecration, and installation of new eparchial bishop

The Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon is pleased to announce that the father and head of the world-wide Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, His Beatitude, the Most Rev. Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Patriarch of Kyiv-Halych, will be coming to Saskatoon to lead the eparchial church community in the services of nominating, consecrating, and installing the Very Rev. Michael Smolinski, C.Ss.R., as the sixth Eparchial Bishop for the Eparchy of Saskatoon.
Co-consecrators will be His Grace, the Most Rev. Lawrence Huculak, OSBM, Archbishop of Winnipeg and Metropolitan of Canada and His Excellency, the Most Rev. Bryan Bayda, CSsR., Eparchial Bishop of Toronto and Eastern Canada, and former Eparchial Bishop of Saskatoon. Msgr. Antons Prikulis, First Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature will be present to represent the Nuncio to Canada, His Excellency, the Most Rev. Ivan Jurkovič. His Excellency, the Most Rev. Mark Hagemoen, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, as well as many other bishops, priests and dignitaries will be in attendance for this momentous occasion.
Further to these services Jan. 19-21, the Patriarch has already accepted a full itinerary of activities. These include an encounter with newly-arrived Ukrainiansat 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. George in Saskatoon, and a school tour and meeting with staff and students of BisLive-sthop Filevich Ukrainian Bilingual School on Jan. 23.
