Registration is underway for an in-person Awaken adult faith series on “Praying as Catholics” to be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the four Tuesday evenings in January at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon.
Organizer Astrid Alas, Adult Faith Coordinator for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, notes that for Catholic Christians, prayer “is a way of living out our entire life” as we communicate with God and deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ.
“Prayer can be formal or informal, verbal or non-verbal, active or contemplative,” notes Astrid. The in-person sessions on different types of prayer will include information, learning, and time for prayer itself.
The series opens with a presentation on Centring Prayer on Jan, 9 by Fr. Kevin McGee, diocesan Vicar General and pastor at St. Mary’s Parish in Saskatoon. Fr. Gerard Cooper, rector and pastor of the Cathedral of the Holy Family will lead a session about Eucharistic Adoration on Jan. 16.
Sisters of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity who are serving in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon will lead a presentation on Jan 23 about praying with the Sacred Scriptures.
The series will conclude with a presentation about Marian Prayer Jan. 30, led by Fr. Daniel Yasinski, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Saskatoon.
Cost for the series is $40 with registration open online at https://form.jotform.com/231799051119257 or call Astrid Alas for more information: (306) 659-5858.
The Awaken adult faith program is supported by gifts to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal.
