With donations and support from the community, the non-profit CWL Clothing Depot continues to offer an important service to those who are in need and face disadvantages. Donations of clothing, toys, towels, bedding, or small household goods can be dropped off at the back door of the CWL Clothing Depot, 619 20th Street West in Saskatoon between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The vital contribution of 100-plus volunteers to the outreach provided by the CWL Clothing Depot was recognized at a volunteer appreciation lunch held May 27 at Holy Spirit Parish in Saskatoon.
The appreciation event included lunch, draws, and entertainment by a Ukulele Singing Group emceed by Mary Jacobi.
CWL Clothing Depot chair Pat Shevchenko thanked board members, volunteers, and all whose generosity ensures the service provided by the non-profit thrift store can continue.
In 2024 some 6,050 volunteer hours were logged at the Clothing Depot, with volunteers working with two staff members Bev Megyesi (manager) and Irene Laroque to accept, collect, clean, present, and sell gently-used and new items for sale at the store located on the lower level of the Friendship Inn building on 20th Street West in Saskatoon.

Shevchenko stressed the hard work and dedication of the two staff members who coordinate the day-to-day operation of the CWL Clothing Depot. “Thank you Bea and Irene for the atmosphere of kindness and acceptance you have created for all who enter the depot.”
Values of compassion and service are at the heart of the CWL Clothing Depot’s mission, said Shevchenko. “in 2023, the Clothing Depot donated $40,000 to various non-profit organizations that hold these same values.”
She highlighted the contributions of volunteers who work in the store or assist behind the scenes, repairing broken items, cleaning, mending and sewing, clearing snow, or picking up items from local businesses. “Thank you everyone for all you do for the depot. It is because of this volunteer work force that the Depot has been such a success.”
Catholic Women’s League (CWL) councils from throughout Saskatoon and area regularly collect used clothing, household articles, bedding, footwear and other items for the CWL Clothing Depot, she noted, also acknowledging the many private donations and donations from businesses. Shevchenko also reported that the past year saw the acquisition of a computer for keeping accounts, as well as the purchase of a new washer and dryer.
