Animated conversation filled the welcome area of St. Philip Neri Church in Saskatoon Aug. 27, 2023, as 36 Sisters gathered for the annual meeting of the Saskatoon Diocesan Sisters’ Association.

Following a welcome from Fr. Doug Jeffrey, OMI, Associate Pastor, Sister Judy Schachtel, SMS, coordinator of the Association, led the opening prayer “Carriers of the Vision” which was followed by a memorial of the five Sisters who died this past year.

Sister Lucie Hamel, PM, gave the treasurer’s report and Sister Teresita Kambeitz, OSU, one of the Sisters on the Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) gave a report on the DPC’s revised diocesan Pastoral Plan.

Representatives of each religious congregation then shared news of their respective congregations, highlighting jubilees, significant events, and various changes taking place in their membership, all punctuated with moments of laughter and occasional applause.

Sister Teresita Kambeitz facilitated some discussion on questions arising from a recent CRC (Canadian Religious Conference) webinar on leadership and governance.

Socializing followed over a festive lunch prepared by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.

There are 84 Sisters in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, representing 14 religious orders.
