The first in-person gathering of the Saskatoon Diocesan Sisters’ Association in three years took place Sept. 25 with 45 Sisters in attendance at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Saskatoon.

Coordinator Sr. Judy Schachtel, SMS welcomed the group and led the opening prayer after which a visual remembrance was observed in honour of the eight Sisters who died during the past year.

As a gesture of prayerful support to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish faith community following the tragedy at James Smith Cree Nation, a card was circulated in which the Sisters wrote messages of condolences.

Representatives of each religious order gave updates on events in their communities after which high-spirited socializing took place over a special lunch.

There are 105 Sisters in Saskatoon; 93 members of 14 Roman Catholic religious orders and 12 Sisters belonging to Ukrainian Rite congregations.
