Watrous-area parishes celebrate “Polka Mass” at local landmark

Three area parishes gathered May 15 for a Mass with polka-style music, held in the historic Danceland facility at Manitou Beach, SK — St. Ann Parish, Watrous; St. Pius X Parish, Imperial; and St. Patrick Parish, Young.

Watrous-area pastor Fr. Peter Olisa and former pastor Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB, presided at the Mass. The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a community and fund-raising brunch. The event is traditionally held in the spring and in the fall, often in conjunction with a community Polkafest at Danceland. The next Polka Mass is planned for September 2022.
