Working on a cold April 13 morning, a team of volunteers again joined Bishop Mark Hagemoen to erect a crucifix on the grounds of the Cathedral of the Holy Family in Saskatoon.
Raising the rough-hewn cross holding the figure of Christ has become an annual tradition since it was first created and placed during the start of COVID-19 restrictions in 2020, when public worship was suspended, and the cross became a way for the public to venerate the cross outdoors or from vehicles.
This year there are no restirctions on worship celebrations for Triduum or Easter, but the tradition of the outdoor cross continues. It will be the site of Stations of the Cross led by Bishop Mark Hagemoen at 7:45 p.m. on Good Friday, April 15, 2022.
