Installations of pastors continue across diocese

Bishop Mark Hagemoen joined the Francophone Catholic community of Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens (la paroisse des Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens) in Saskatoon on the fifth Sunday of Lent April 3 to celebrate the Eucharist and offer special prayers to officially install the parish’s recently-appointed pastor.
Fr. Daniel Louh, SMA (Society of African Missions) came to the diocese in May 2021, after serving as pastor in several parishes in the African countries of Niger, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Liberia. When he first arrived in Saskatoon, Fr. Louh was assisting at St. Paul Co-Cathedral, before his appointment to Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens, effective Aug. 1.
The installation prayers offer an opportunity to reflect prayerfully on the role of the pastor, highlighting the priest’s sacramental ministry through a series of prayers at different spots throughout the church building: the altar, the ambo, the tabernacle, the baptismal font, the entrance of the church, etc.
“This isn’t a required ritual, but it is something that is an option, and we have chosen to do that because of its simple but rich symbolism about the relationship of the pastor — the priest — with the people of God,” explains Bishop Hagemoen.
The installation of the pastor at Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens is the latest in a series of celebrations that Hagemoen is undertaking across the diocese (see photos and links, below)
