Saskatoon’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish community brought their Sunday afternoon Mass to the chapel of Queen’s House March 27, launching a week of prayers at the retreat centre for the Indigenous delegation that is meeting with Pope Francis and others at the Vatican from March 28-April 1.
A diocesan time of prayer was also declared for Monday, March 28, with Bishop Mark Hagemoen inviting parishes to pray together from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. that day, with events planned at a number of locations (LINK).
The Mass March 27 at Queen’s House started with traditional drumming and a procession of candles that were placed in front of the altar in the retreat house chapel, which is surrounded by windows looking out on the land of the riverbank location.
Pastor Fr. Graham Hill, CSsR, prayed that members of the delegation would have courage to speak the truth, and “that those who hear the voices of our relatives, will truly listen to the cries of our brothers and sisters.”
In addition to the prayers from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 28, Queen’s House (located at 601 Taylor Street West, Saskatoon) will continue to be a location for dropping by to pray each day until April 1:
- Tuesday March 29, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- Wednesday March 30, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- Thursday March 31, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- Friday April 1, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. (Closing Prayer)
